Sample questions
Three questions from the AD0-E723 practice bank, with the answer and why each option is right or wrong.
Question 1
A merchandiser is adding a trail jacket in four colors and three sizes. The warehouse counts stock for every color and size pair, and the store must stop selling a pair the moment it runs out. Which product type should be used?
- A. Configurable product
- B. Simple product with customizable options for color and size
- C. Simple product for each color, with size as a customizable option
Answer: A. A configurable product shows as one product with option lists. Behind each option sits a simple product with a distinct SKU, and that is how stock is kept for each variation. [2]
- A. Right. Each variation of a configurable product is a separate simple product with its own SKU, so stock is tracked for every color and size pair.
- B. Wrong. Customizable options are variations of one SKU and cannot be used to manage stock, so no single pair could sell out on its own.
- C. Wrong. Splitting by color still leaves every size on one SKU per color, and customizable options cannot hold a stock count of their own.
Question 2
A merchandiser wants every product in the Camping category to show 15 percent off on category and product pages for the General customer group. Shoppers must not have to enter a code. Which promotion type should be used?
- A. A catalog price rule
- B. A cart price rule with `No Coupon`
- C. A cart price rule with `Specific Coupon`
Answer: A. Catalog price rules change product prices before anything reaches the cart, and they never use coupon codes. Cart price rules discount items in the cart, with or without a coupon. [3]
- A. Right. A catalog price rule takes effect before the product goes into the cart, so the lower price shows while the shopper browses, and no code is involved.
- B. Wrong. A cart price rule works on items once they are in the cart, so category and product pages keep the full price.
- C. Wrong. A specific coupon makes the shopper type a code, and a cart price rule still leaves category pages at full price.
Question 3
A warehouse team wants customers to see the label Packed while their orders are being boxed. A store administrator plans to add a custom order status for it. What effect does the new status have on how orders are processed?
- A. It adds a step that every order must pass before it can ship
- B. None, since a custom status changes the label people see and not the workflow
- C. It replaces the order state that it is assigned to
- D. It blocks invoicing until the status is changed again
Answer: B. Order states are used by the software and decide the flow of an order and which operations are possible. Order statuses are the labels customers and Admin users see. A custom status is assigned to a state and has no impact on the order processing workflow. [4]
- A. Wrong. A custom status adds no required step. Orders move through the same workflow whatever label they carry, so shipping is not held back by it.
- B. Right. Custom statuses show progress such as packing or delivery to customers and Admin users. They have no impact on the order processing workflow.
- C. Wrong. Each status is assigned to a state, and that state stays in place. The status gives the position in the workflow a readable label.
- D. Wrong. Order states decide which operations are possible for an order. A new label on top of a state does not lock invoicing.
