Adobe publishes these sections and objectives for AD0-E610, quoted here as Adobe words them. [1]

Section 1: Connections, 18% of the exam

  • "Given a scenario, identify the basic elements required for connections"
  • "Given a scenario, identify which data ingestion methods to use as part of the data flow"
  • "Identify the latency of data ingestion or time period of data availability in CJA"
  • "Given a scenario, identify the persistent or transient fields in a data set"
  • "Identify the correct sequence of steps to configure a connection"

Section 2: Data Views, 34% of the exam

  • "Given a scenario, identify the correct configuration for defining a dimension or metric"
  • "Identify how or where dimensions or metrics can be configured"
  • "Given a scenario, identify the function to be used to create a derived field"
  • "Given a scenario, identify the options that can be configured to manipulate the data"
  • "Given a scenario, identify the elements to configure data view"

Section 3: Data Validation and Troubleshooting, 16% of the exam

  • "Given a scenario, identify simple queries to understand quality issues in data"
  • "Given data, analyze data to identify anomalies in the data ingestion process"
  • "Given a scenario, identify the steps involved in previewing data for data validation prior to data ingestion"

Section 4: Reporting and Activation, 16% of the exam

  • "Given a scenario, determine how to apply appropriate dimensions or metrics"
  • "Given a scenario with multiple data sources, identify the correct configuration of a filter or a calculated metric"
  • "Given a scenario that includes a business problem, identify which dimensions or metrics to use to quantify a specific business answer"

Section 5: AEP or Platform Administration, 16% of the exam

  • "Given a scenario, identify the right data sets and schema path"
  • "Identify where a schema or data set is configured in AEP"
  • "Identify the definitions of the semantics and taxonomy of connections, data view in CJA and AEP"

Sample questions

Three questions from the AD0-E610 practice bank, with the answer and why each option is right or wrong.

Question 1

A developer wants to use Identity Map as the Person ID for a dataset in an Adobe Customer Journey Analytics connection. For which datasets is that option available?

  • A. Datasets on a schema based on the ExperienceEvent XDM class
  • B. Lookup datasets on any record class
  • C. Summary datasets on the XDM Summary Metrics class
  • D. Datasets on an ad hoc schema created from a CSV file

Answer: A. Identity Map is a map of key value pairs on each row, with identity namespaces as keys. For ExperienceEvent datasets you can pick it, or a single identity field, as the Person ID. [2]

  • A. Right. Identity Map is available for any dataset whose schema is based on the ExperienceEvent XDM class.
  • B. Wrong. Lookup datasets join through a key and a matching key.
  • C. Wrong. Summary datasets are not tied to an individual Person ID.
  • D. Wrong. An ad hoc schema is not based on the ExperienceEvent XDM class. Its Person ID is a field picked from the ad hoc schema.

Question 2

An organization sends a numeric points_redeemed field on every loyalty redemption event to Adobe Customer Journey Analytics. A developer needs a Redemptions metric from that field that adds one for each event carrying any value, whatever the number of points. Which behavior setting fits?

  • A. Lower case
  • B. Count instances
  • C. Count values
  • D. Values to count

Answer: B. On Integer and Double fields, metric behavior offers Count values, which adds the field's value, and Count instances, which adds one for any value present. Choose by whether the report needs a total or a count of events. [3]

  • A. Wrong. Lower case is a dimension behavior setting. It combines values that differ only by case.
  • B. Right. Count instances adds one whenever a value is present, so a redemption of 500 points adds 1.
  • C. Wrong. Count values adds the value itself, so a redemption of 500 points adds 500.
  • D. Wrong. Values to count appears only on Boolean fields, where it counts true, false or both.

Question 3

A developer suspects that a source system sends unexpected currency codes into an Adobe Experience Platform event dataset. Which Adobe Experience Platform Query Service statement lists each different value of the field once?

  • A. `SELECT DISTINCT commerce.order.currencyCode FROM {table}`
  • B. `SELECT commerce.order.currencyCode FROM {table} LIMIT 1`
  • C. `SELECT * FROM {table} ORDER BY timestamp`
  • D. `SELECT COUNT(*) FROM {table}`

Answer: A. A quick quality check on a coded field is to list its distinct values and look for anything that should not be there, such as a misspelled code or a placeholder. SELECT accepts ALL or DISTINCT in Query Service, as in standard SQL. [4]

  • A. Right. DISTINCT returns each different value once, so an unexpected code stands out in a short list.
  • B. Wrong. LIMIT 1 returns a single row, which shows one value at most.
  • C. Wrong. This returns every row in time order, with the same values repeated many times.
  • D. Wrong. COUNT(*) returns one number for the whole table and shows no values.
