Sample questions
Three questions from the AD0-E213 practice bank, with the answer and why each option is right or wrong.
Question 1
Which component sets the ECID on Adobe Analytics pages?
- A. The ECID namespace, through the Adobe organization ID
- B. The Adobe Analytics report suite, through the first hit it processes
- C. The Adobe Visitor ID Service, through the VisitorAPI.js library
- D. The Adobe Experience Platform Identity Service, through its unified customer profile
Answer: C. Adobe separates three entities with similar names. The Adobe Visitor ID Service is the VisitorAPI.js library that sets the ECID. The ECID is the shared identity namespace. The Adobe Experience Platform Identity Service resolves identities across devices and systems into a customer profile. Only the first one runs on your page to set the ECID. [2]
- A. Wrong. Adobe describes the ECID as a shared identity namespace. The Visitor ID Service is the entity responsible for setting it.
- B. Wrong. Adobe gives the job of setting the ECID to the Visitor ID Service on the page. A report suite does not assign it.
- C. Right. Adobe's Visitor ID Service guide says the Visitor ID Service is the VisitorAPI.js library that sets the ECID for Adobe Analytics, Audience Manager and Adobe Target.
- D. Wrong. Adobe says the Visitor ID Service is not the Adobe Experience Platform Identity Service. The Identity Service bridges identities across devices and systems into a customer profile. It does not set the ECID on the page.
Question 2
An Adobe Analytics solution design reference (SDR) row asks for the internal search term from the `q` query string parameter, credited with orders placed later in the same visit. Which variable type should the developer map the row to?
- A. A list prop, because its value persists beyond the hit that sets it
- B. An eVar, because its value persists beyond the hit that sets it
- C. A prop, because its value persists beyond the hit that sets it
- D. A configuration variable, because its value persists beyond the hit
Answer: B. An SDR row that needs a value to take credit for a later success event needs a variable that persists. eVars persist beyond the hit by default, and report suite settings control how long. Props and list props live only on the hit that sets them, so they cannot credit a later order. [3]
- A. Wrong. A list prop is a prop set up to hold several values in one hit. List props do not persist beyond the hit they are set on, so a later order gets no credit.
- B. Right. eVars persist beyond the hit they are set on by default, and you customize their expiration and allocation under Conversion variables in report suite settings. A term set on the search results page can then take credit for an order later in the visit.
- C. Wrong. Props do not persist beyond the hit that they are set on. A prop set on the search results page cannot take credit for an order on a later page.
- D. Wrong. Configuration variables are settings that help make sure the correct data reaches Adobe, and they typically do not populate dimension items. A search term is a dimension value.
Question 3
A developer is starting a first Adobe Analytics implementation with the Adobe Analytics extension in tags in Adobe Experience Platform. Which task comes first?
- A. Make sure the Adobe Analytics extension is installed and configured
- B. Make sure a report suite is defined to receive the data
- C. Make sure a data layer is created to manage the tracking data
- D. Make sure a tag property is created to hold the tag management data
Answer: B. Adobe's task list for the Adobe Analytics extension runs report suite, data layer, tag property, extension, development deployment, then validation and publishing to production. The report suite comes first. [4]
- A. Wrong. Installing and configuring the extension is the fourth task. It needs a property to live in and a report suite to send to.
- B. Right. Adobe's task list for the Adobe Analytics extension starts with making sure you have defined a report suite. The data layer, the tag property and the extension come after it.
- C. Wrong. Creating the data layer is the second task, after the report suite.
- D. Wrong. Creating the tag property is the third task, after the report suite and the data layer.
